National Recognition

Shakti Samuha has been consistently acknowledged within Nepal for its pioneering role and sustained contributions:

  • Honored by the Government of Nepal (2007) on the first National Day Against Human Trafficking, recognizing its early leadership in survivor-led advocacy.

  • Janasewa Maanpadavi (2017), a national honor for outstanding social service and commitment to public welfare.

  • National Human Rights Award (2078 B.S.), awarded for significant contributions to protecting and promoting human rights.

  • Shanta Devi Laxmi Award (2025), presented on the occasion of National Human Rights Day, recognizing continued dedication to justice and survivor empowerment (as highlighted on page 6).

International Recognition

Shakti Samuha’s innovative survivor-led model has earned global acclaim:

  • Ramon Magsaysay Award (2013), widely regarded as Asia’s highest honor, recognizing transformative leadership and community impact.

  • French Republic Human Rights Award (2015), acknowledging exceptional work in defending human rights and combating trafficking.

  • NGO Challenge Award – Faridabad, India (2017), honoring cross-border efforts in addressing human trafficking.

Individual Honors

The leadership within Shakti Samuha has also been recognized at an individual level, reflecting the strength of survivor voices:

  • Hero Acting to End Modern Day Slavery Award (2011)

  • Dayaram Pariyar Memorial Human Rights Award (2016)
